The Dirty Dozen
We are exposed to chemicals on a daily basis in our everyday lives. Everything from brushing our teeth in the morning, the microwaved plastic lunch box at work and the evening shower with simple soap and shampoo, make us easy victims of chemical substances. Already in 2000, it emerged in a global report that 90% of the chemicals we humans are exposed to there is very little knowledge about. It is not only the chemical pesticides that we need to watch out for, but also substances that we have chosen to accept, such as tattooing with paint or silicone implants. Even if its effects are not felt immediately, diseases slowly progress and affect our immune system, which often leads to autoimmune diseases, among other things. The problem with this is that we are lulled into a false sense of security about the so-called limit values as it does not show what happens when several different poisons are mixed and reinforce each other.
Parabens and phthalates
A hot topic at the moment are the parabens and phthalates found in various beauty products, hygiene items and place packaging. These substances have been noticed when it was realized that the substances have a greater impact on our health than what could have been expected. A woman who wears a light make-up daily is exposed to up to around 250 chemicals, 160 of which can be identified in the body on the same day. These chemicals affect the immune system to the extent that they have an effect on, among other things, the thyroid gland, ovaries and testicles and contribute to an increased risk of disease.
Pesticides
Pesticides such as pesticides are the poisons that have received the most attention. The remarkable thing is that even though many of these substances are approved, very little is known about their effect on our health. It is difficult to avoid pesticides as we are exposed to them on a daily basis, but to introduce information about which and how much pesticides are in the food we put into us.
Blacklist and options
There are a dozen vegetables and fruits that contain so much pesticide that the consumer should only buy the organic version of these. The list includes several of the consumers' biggest favorites and also those with a high nutritional content. Here is the list of the twelve most sprayed fruits and vegetables, and also alternatives to replace them with similar benefits in themselves.
(Remember that this is a global survey, and therefore Swedish raw materials are always the best to buy)
