Understanding of allergies and natural relief
Share
Allergies are common occurrences that affect people worldwide. But how do these reactions occur in the body and how can we alleviate their symptoms naturally?
How do allergies work?
Allergic reactions are the body's hypersensitive response to usually harmless substances in our environment, known as allergens. When a person with an allergy is exposed to the allergen, their immune system reacts by releasing histamine and other chemicals. These substances then cause various symptoms, such as a runny nose, itching, and swelling.
Superfoods for allergy relief
Natural solutions, like superfoods, can help support the body naturally. For example, foods rich in quercetin have been shown to be beneficial for people suffering from pollen allergies.
Quercetin is a flavonoid found in foods like onions, apples, and berries, and it can help reduce inflammation and alleviate symptoms like nasal congestion and itching. [1]
Likewise, omega-3 fatty acids can be beneficial for people with inflammatory symptoms common in many types of allergies.
Foods like fatty fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts are rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids and can help reduce inflammation and strengthen the body's immune system. [2]
Including these superfoods in the diet can be a natural way to complement allergy relief and maintain normal well-being for those suffering from allergies.
But remember that individual reactions may vary, and it's always best to consult a doctor before making changes to your diet.

Tips to ease symptoms
1. Remove gluten
By eliminating gluten found in wheat, rye, and barley, the body doesn't have to overwork breaking down the protein in gluten and also combat pollen.
2. Replace dairy products
Replace your dairy products with other alternatives such as vegan options.
3. Reduce or eliminate sugar
Reduce or eliminate sugar from the diet, e.g., white sugar found in cookies, soda, energy drinks, and ice cream. This is to lessen the body's workload, which helps improve gut health.
4. Strengthen the body with superfood
Superfoods provide extremely nutritious diets and an easy way to ensure the body gets the necessary nutrients. Regular intake of superfoods can have various effects; some protect your body from the inside, while others strengthen and heal.
